We all agreed we could have spent another day in San Sebastián, but it was time to move on so we packed up and headed out after enjoying one more meal on our terrace. Here is Stella with her giant chocolate croissant:
Packing happened.
The drive was relatively uneventful. It took us 7 hours. France is very large and we have seen quite a bit of its finest gas stations and highways.
When we arrived at La Restrie, it was a balmy 36 degrees (97 degrees). Luckily, the apartment is in a 17th century building with walls almost two feet thick, so it was quite cool inside. And outside there is a nice little pool. The girls hopped in and spent some time giggling and cooling off. Lots of giggling.
Then they played darts in a cave. The cave was incredibly cool (and very fun).
We headed into Amboise to walk around and find some food. Amboise is home to a 15th century chateau and many lovely shops and restaurants. And this place:
Turning 180 degrees, the view is a bit more interesting.
Delightful girls by an old wall:
After dinner, we strolled through town. Ellie carried the wine leftover from dinner.
Sunset on the Loire is quite beautiful.
We got home and the girls continued giggling until some time past midnight.
